Barrie, Ontario, December 1, 2014 — Shred North, the local paper shredding company has been named the winner of the 2014 PowerStream Green Award at the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
The annual awards banquet recognizes excellence in the Barrie business community. The 2014 awards were co-presented by Bell Canada, PowerStream Inc., and OLG with PowerStream sponsoring the Green Award.
“Being recognized for this award is a true honour”, stated Ryan Giffen, CEO of Shred North. “PowerStream has been a leader in environmental stewardship for many years in Ontario; receiving an award from such a great company based on our green accomplishments, is very humbling”
The local paper shredding company has established themselves quickly in the Central Ontario business community, being named “New Business of the Year” in 2012 by the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce as well as being named “Storage Business of the Year” in 2013 by the readers of the Barrie Examiner.
The company’s commitment to the environment includes recycling all paper that is shred, accounting for tens of millions of pounds of paper in the past year alone. In addition, the company offers a local mobile shredding solution to businesses that otherwise would be required to contract shred trucks from the GTA, leading to increased carbon emissions.
